Blossoms

So much has happened this past weekend. Where do I begin?? OK, so the weather was kind of good. I won’t call it a proper Spring weather, since I know what Spring feels like, but still let’s give it 6 points out of 10. Ha!
We recently came to know about the colorful Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. I know the cherries have not blossomed fully yet, but we decided to go anyways. What a wonderful day we spent in the park with live music, lots of people, the hush-hush of children playing and running! It was like we are out for a picnic or something! It was a lovely experience for us.. Some things stay with you forever, and this was surely one of them.

So this all-women band was playing in the park. Their band is known by the name of Batala Washington percussion group. They play Brazilian music on these big drums which they hang on their hips. Not only that, they dance while playing too. The special part was their colorful costumes. They looked so cheerful and fabulous in those red and white colors. They played like about 5 - 6 songs (which was kind-a like 2 hours or so..) and people were enjoying, dancing to their music, clapping, grooving…!! It was some crazy fun performance.. These girls are normal people just like you and me.. They practice five hours on Saturdays. That’s what the cute instructor told us and also invited us to join the group. No rules, no restrictions – all are invited! I was ‘this’ close to joining them but then I thought of 5 hours of practice on Weekends and I thought there you go my travel plans.. Huh!! Anyways.. May be someday.. I will join some group like that.. How much fun it would be!

I wore a denim jumpsuit and my favorite white jacket which I refuse to part ways with – until it becomes super-hot and sunny in my city (which doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon). I also wore sandals that day (for a change).. and trust me, it felt like it's been ages since I wore something open-toed out in the sun! But then, it was not a very wise decision I would say, since by the time the sun was setting, my feet were cold.. so we usually rush home in such cases.. haha!
Anyways.. my weekend went quite well, how was yours?

Cheers
Ritika..

Printed Denim Jacket

I am an Indian (born and brought up in India) and in my head March = Spring. Though that might not be the case in other parts of the world, and certainly not where I am living right now, but a girl can only hope!
Anyways.. I bought this jacket like 3 weeks ago and have been waiting for it to get sunnier so that I could wear it. (I know – it’s the story of every fashion blogger's life)! We buy warm clothes in summer and wait for Autumn/Winter to arrive so that we can wear them. And we do the same for Spring/Summer. No, we are not stupid people, we just like to plan ahead.. LOL.. Ha! You get where I am coming from? (here is where all my fellow fashion bloggers nod their head and say 'yes')..

Anyways.. so back to the outfit. It's the same old story - It was sunny and nice on the weekend. We (as in husband and moi) went out.. ate delicious street food.. drank coffees.. walked endlessly.. clicked tons of pictures.. secured all these wonderful moments in our memories.. and came back home dead tried! You get it? That is my weekend routine!

Putting a few extra pictures in today’s post. Why? Just cause I can.. Ha!

Try Bold

Why not try bold this spring? And bold bottoms are even better! Going bare legs is still a challenge (which I don't wanna accept), so why not go the other route and try big bold patterns for bottoms! I am all in.. well are you..??

Also this is one of the coolest hats I own. I have a 'thing' for hats! I love collecting them - different kinds and colors. More on that in some other post..
We had lots of fun clicking these pictures, hope you all enjoy them too!

Cheers

Colorful Layering

I have never been one to dress like an onion – with layers and layers of clothing. However, things have changed now. Whether I like it or not, I have to put on 3 to 4 layers of clothing before stepping out these days.
I complained, I whined, I disliked it for a few days initially, but to my own surprise, I have started liking it now! Oh, yes, when you don’t have a choice, that’s what you should do - start liking it – and the world will be a much better place! (Go with the wind, folks!)
Since, we have settled down a bit in this new city, I like to spend my evenings in my new kitchen – baking or cooking varieties!
Not that you care, but these are by-far the coldest winters I have ever experienced, and I am actually enjoying the snow, the freezing, the overcoats and lots of warm beverages!

Anyways, that’s all on my mind today.. I am trying to wear more and more color these days, since the days are so gray and I am the owner of such a colorful blog (wink!! wink!!), I feel it is my moral responsibility to add some color in to my surroundings! (ha.. ha..)
So if you are fighting hard with winters like me, layering is the best option to go for! Who knows you may start liking it too :-)

These pictures are recent and were taken on a super cold evening, (which is kind-a regular thing now for me).. I MISS PHOENIX SUN.. ahh.. those were the sunny days..

Happy Winters!!

This & That - 4

Long time since I did a ‘This & That’ post. In case, you are wondering where am I lost these days, here are the deets –
  1. If you are following my posts and Facebook/Instagram account, you would know that I recently moved to Washington D.C. with my husband.
  2. As soon as we got an internet connection setup at home, I hopped on the blog to update!
  3. The weather is beyond my imagination here! Last week was OK, but it snowed yesterday and today it’s freeeeezinggg!! Don’t know how am I going to survive this!! (Next project: To buy the warmest coats and jackets possible).
  4. The city is quite nice, lots of cars and people to be seen. Everyone is always on-the-go! (I feel this way since Phoenix was a calmer city)..
  5. I miss Phoenix winters terribly (I love’em).
  6. We are still in the process of settling down (you know the kinds.. unpacking, home set-up and interior decoration etc.)
  7. Our new apartment is great, the view from my bedroom window is spectacular (will share few pictures once we get settled)..
  8. Ahh.. and here I am posting a few pictures which were clicked in Phoenix, just a day before we left for D.C. (I am not wearing any outerwear, just imagine the lovely weather over there)..
  9. And practically I am living in these shoes these days! Best booties EVER. Best for work, evening, shopping - you name it!
  10. Also, while I was editing these pictures, I realized that I recently did another jumpsuit post. (Of course both are my favorites)!

Cheers!

Tomboy

Never underestimate the power of 'moving (cities)'. And that's coming from someone with personal experience. I have been packing, packing and packing.. which seems to be never ending (so far).. Putting your home in 'boxes' is not an easy thing to do!
Well, that's what I have been doing these days and did I mention living in a suitcase sucks too? Well, it kinda does. So that's that and this is the outfit I wore on a trip to Phoenix Zoo. The thing is, before leaving town, we want to explore all the attractions here, you see.. (which obviously we didn't in the past 16 months)! But, it's never too late!
Soon we will be busy in unpacking stuff and decorating our new home in D.C.

Here are a few pictures from a beautiful sunny day in Phoenix.

P.S. Do I look like a Tomboy here (just curious)!

Cheers!
Ritika
