White Valentine

Disclaimer: Picture heavy post

It was quite a relaxing Valentine for us this year. Like every time we went out for a dinner and a long walk after that.. However, this time the outside temperature wasn't much in our favor, but who cares! We still went for a (short) walk by the Waterfront in our city and came back home feeling all refreshed and cool!
This has to be my first Valentine when the background was all white (covered in snow), and the temperature was freezing! Anyways, it was a relaxing weekend after that, since we managed to watch a movie (after soooo long) and shop a little.

Coming to the outfit, I wanted to dress up a little for our special dinner night, hence I played up with an over-sized color-block sweater and my favorite geo printed mini-skirt. Of course you gotta add winter leggings to stay warm in such weather!
The red coat in these pictures is another one of my favorites! It matched perfectly with the black, red and white colors in the outfit.
I also added a chunky watch and black leather boots (which are a must these days).
P.S. I don’t remember when was the last time I wore my open toed sandals..!! Ha! I miss'em. But I am hopeful for spring..

You are welcome to enjoy a few candid shots from the night and thanks to my lovely sister-in-law for taking a couple of pictures!

Cheers!

In the Sin City

An unplanned visit to Las Vegas was a refresher. It so happened that my husband and I were out for a casual evening walk when I expressed that we should travel somewhere before moving to D.C. since for the next month (after moving) we would be completely occupied with home decoration and set-up etc. Considering our love for 'travel', we thought of utilizing the weekend and voila..!
He liked the idea and we decided to hit the road the very next morning. That's it. The next morning we were on the road before we knew.. Whoever said unplanned traveling is fun was very RIGHT!
And boy we had fun... Though I fell ill (kind-a feverish) for a day, but who cares about that.. I remember only the fun part!
Tomorrow morning we are flying to D.C. Our car and our stuff has already been shipped. If I say 'I am excited about the move' would be an understatement. Let's see what future holds in for us..

Watch out for the next post from the Capital itself..!!

Bye for now..

Another Day, Another Dress

Hello everyone! It feels good to be back on this page after almost two weeks. Such breaks are not bad at all, after all who doesn’t enjoy a little time off?
Truth be told, this short break was completely unintentional as I was very busy in arranging stuff, shopping, attending countless weddings, packing bags and then finally flying back to Phoenix. I barely had the time to switch my computer on and write a blog! Anyhow, better late than never..
So, if you don't follow Rising Colors on Facebook yet, (which you totally SHOULD), you would not know that we flew back to Phoenix this weekend and that is how our 6 week-long vacation in India came to an end.. I was busy packing last week and this week unpacking is killing me (On that note, packing and unpacking are the two activities I completely DISLIKE)..
Anyways.. I am keeping it short today, though believe me I have so, so much to share with you all. I ‘ll be back with a lot of updates from my India trip.

On the outfit part, I wore this lovely Anarkali dress for a wedding in Delhi. This is one of my many purchases from India. I love the frock style cut of this dress, and the fact it is pure cotton makes it even more comfortable. The high collar adds an extra oomph to the outfit. Enjoy a few pics (and excuse the quality of the pictures, as these were not clicked with a very good camera).
P.S. Meet my sister-in-law (last picture) who has accompanied us to Phoenix. I look forward to spend great time with her!

Cheers!

Diwali Special

As it appears I am enjoying my stay in India, way more than I had expected! I believe this is the best time to be in India when the weather is so good and the markets are flooded with all the festivities..
No wonder I am having a great time here. Last week I traveled to Kanpur (my hometown). It was my mother’s birthday hence the celebrations were doubled! I baked a cake for her too, which she cut! And in her words, ‘it was heavenly delicious’.. Happy Times!
I also met my old friends and extended family – which was wonderful! We laughed, remembered those old days when we used to chat for hours, play pranks on each other and what not! Old Friends are 'Gold Friends' to say the least..
And then.. this weekend we celebrated Diwali at home (after like two years).. So this is all I have been engaged in to for the past few days.. And whenever I get some free time, I spend it in blogging..

Oh and did I mention I have shopped non-stop! (Ha.. now that’s nothing unexpected, is it?) Well the difference is I have been shopping all kinds of Indian ethnic wear.. which I am gonna take back to Phoenix with me.. (yes, that's the plan)!
As much as I love India, I have mixed feelings for this wonderful country too.. but let’s leave this subject for some other day..
Undoubtedly, my time here is just flying.. and we also have some more traveling plans in the coming weeks (I am looking forward to it!)

Here are few pictures we clicked on the eve of Diwali.. This lovely Lehenga-choli was gifted to me by my lovely husband..

Karva Chauth 2013

These days I am least bothered about blogging and keeping the blog updated! Ask me why - cause the time in India is just flying at a jet speed. (In case you are wondering, I reached here safely last week). It's already one week since our arrival here and I am simply loving every bit of it.

So it was Karva Chauth here yesterday (click here, to know more about it) and no wonder I enjoyed it to the maximum! I wore a saree (after so long).. and got all dressed up, what an evening it was..
Enjoy the pics.. Keeping it short.. since today I am not much in a talking (to myself) mood!

Till next time!

Lake Girl

Those who say traveling keeps them alive, may not be entirely wrong. Since yours truly is also a traveling freak and loves to travel whenever there is a chance! Sitting at home on weekends is just not my thing. I feel like I am wasting time by lounging on that useless couch or sleeping till late!
I would not mind getting up daily and going out visiting a new place, a new city, a new world every day! But that would be possible only in a fairy-tale life.. In real life, we have to work, we have to earn, we have to sleep, eat and perform so many other mundane duties on a daily basis! But that’s just life!

I am sure each one of us dream of doing something they love, something they are quite passionate about – and it can be anything! But how often are we able to do it? Or shall I say how often do we make a serious effort to suffice our desires or hobbies? And trust me, if you are waiting for the right time, or the right day to start – it ain't gonna happen! Since there is nothing like the right time! NOW – is the right time.. Do it NOW.

So get up and do something.. Something which makes you happy! No matter what it is.. Take one step towards it and the rest will follow..
By now, you would have got the idea that ‘Travel’ is my passion – and I don’t like to wait for the perfect time or day..

So last weekend, I was feeling a little low and husband knew only travel could lift up my mood. So we, along with our friends drove to Prescott – a beautiful small town in Arizona. We spent the day eating, walking and sight-seeing.. and the evening flew by this beautiful lake (they call it - Watson Lake). The temperature was quite Fall-like, the day was nothing less than perfect! Enjoy the pictures..

P.S. Strangers kept complimenting me for my Sweatshirt! No wonder I love it too! It's so warm and cozy..
P.P.S. Did you notice my hair is long enough now.. I can now make a tiny-weeny pony too! LOL..

Cheers!

LA Part III: Malibu & Santa Barbara

Read Part I | Part II

This is the last part of my Los Angeles travel series. It was the last day of our vacation and we wanted to use it completely. There was still so much to do and so little time left.
We checked out from our hotel early in the morning and thought of spending the whole day at the beach.

We drove to Malibu beach but guess what – the sun was not shining.. It was cloudy and gloomy! Not a perfect beach-y kind-a day but we managed to play a little in the water! Mind you – the water was cold, very cold (but this girl was having hell lot-a fun!)
We spent an hour or so there and then left for Santa Barbara and reached there after a 2 hours’ drive and boy, did we love that city! What’s not to love? The weather, the city, the shops, the restaurants, the crowd – the whole vibe - Ooh! I can get settled there – like forever!
It would be an understatement if I say that Santa Barbara is the most beautiful city I have ever been to (yet)!

We relaxed (literally slept) on the sunny beach of Santa Barbara for the rest of the day. And when the sun started to set, we quickly set off for city surfing. I loved walking on the streets, clicking endless pictures with my beau.
Sadly my lovely vacation ended here. We then drove back to Phoenix! Our Home-Sweet-Home (Hot Home actually)!!

Hope you enjoyed the series!
Few pictures!

Cheers!
