LA Part II: Natural History Museum & Beach

Read LA Part I

The next day we decided to go the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the California Science Center. It was a good experience to learn about so many species which are extinct now.
I wore my favorite flats to be as comfortable as I can for the walking we had to do!

Then post lunch, we went on a stroll – and guess where – Beverly Hills! The whole vibe of that area is so posh. We then came back to the hotel in the evening. Since the sun was still shining – we decided to quickly change in to something comfortable and head to the closest beach!
Santa Monica it was.. (which happened to be one of the most happening beach I have ever been to)! There was a local fair going on the beach. People were laughing, enjoying, dancing, partying, getting tatted, there was this giant wheel, a roller coaster and many other entertaining rides for kids and adults! Fun all around!

The sun kept setting and it started getting cold. We sat there for hours, watching the sea, chatting, making future plans, listening to the relaxing sound of night waves and before we knew it was already half past 10! That's when we realized we did not even have our dinner! We all then rushed to our hotel before we died of hunger! (Don't worry we reached just in time)!! ;)

Some pictures from the day -

Cheers!

Black & Black

This has to be one of the happiest days of my life. Guess what? My mother and sister are coming to visit me!!!
Yayyy.. yikes!!! ***Jumping around with joy***
I just can not hold my excitement anymore. Tomorrow evening they would land here in Phoenix, and I am very excited to spend an entire one month with them! We have done all the planning, since this is their first trip abroad, there is going to be a lot of travelling, sight-seeing, shopping etc. etc. and you know how much I love to travel and shop!
I would love to introduce you all to my beautiful mom and my sweet sister! Just stay tuned – a lot is going to happen on this page (and in my life)!

There are days when you are so happy that it becomes difficult to hold the excitement in your life! Today is one such day for me!
Well, stay tuned people! That’s all I can say :)

What I wore –
I wore this maxi on a shopping date with husband. I have to tell you, this was the best outfit I have ever worn for a shopping day! Easy to take-off, easy to take-on! Well, it’s a plain black maxi (we all have one in our closet) which I accessorized with a stack of silver bangles bought in India and a silver cuff (did I mention - I love them?) and a pair of flat gladiator sandals (which are super comfortable)!

These black shoes came in recently, if you remember! And I just can’t stop wearing them over and over!
Well. That’s all for now – see you soon!

Did I tell you – I am crazily happy right now! I did right? OK, good!!!

Cheers!

Maxi - The Classic Stunner

Today let’s talk about maxi dresses, or shall I say ‘I want to talk about Maxi dresses, since it's my blog and that’s what today's outfit pictures are all about’..!! pssst…
Well, anyways, you will have to bear with me, cause I have mixed feelings for Maxi dresses (like I do for SRK, but let’s leave that topic for another post).

I feel Maxi dresses are themed around romanticism and femininity. I love the way the maxi dresses impart sensuality. The fitted upper body and the flowing bottom present a likable contrast that all of us love to embrace. Here are some Pro’s and Con’s of maxi dresses -

Pros –
  1. The first and the most important being – it is so comfortable! Secondly, the maxi makes you look like a Greek Goddess in a Roman style, which is a plus point, any day!!
  2. If you are slim and tall, this can (read 'should') be your go-to choice in summers! Jeans is so boring now, at least for me. What do you think?
  3. It gives you a sexy bohemian look, and who doesn't like that? Key tip – Accessorize with lots of rings and cuffs, and chunky jewelry for a boho look. Or keep it simple with just a watch and a simple piece of jewelry (and/or a hat) if you are not interested in taking the boho-route!
  4. Its sexy! (I bet you are with me on this!). And, most importantly, it elongates the figure. That’s a Bonus!
  5. You don’t have to worry about shaving your legs! Ha! Life-saver.
  6. Easy washroom breaks! Do I need to elaborate, or you got it? Hope you got it!
  7. Day at the beach – Use it as a cover up with your sexy bikini! You may not need to buy a separate cover-up. Voila! Money-saved!
  8. Dress for work – Pair it with a blazer and you are ready for office! Ok, I agree some offices have a strict dress policy, but still, this point can be considered as a valid one! No?
Add more, people, let’s make this list going..

Cons –
  1. Usually made for ‘tall’ people, since others would have to get alterations done. I know, that’s bad, very bad! Can understand.
  2. Climbing up and down the stairs (wearing a maxi). Need I say more?
  3. There is no chance for you to win that race (around the kids, or even if it is a spontaneous race on those weekend picnics)! Nobody likes to lose. Right!
  4. Imagine it rains and you are drenched and now a long piece of cloth is clinging to your whole body and those legs! Ahhh.. nightmare!
Care to add more?

Key Tips –
  • Maxi dresses are suitable for both formal and semi-formal occasions. Hence, dress up or dress down as you like!
  • Bold prints look good on women with good height! Hence, if you are not that tall, opt for solid colored maxi’s (or small prints on dark colors) since, that would help in elongating your figure.
  • Choosing darker colors like black, navy, burgundy will also help you look slimmer.
  • The key is to accessorize! A hat, a scarf, gladiator shoes, the list is just endless!

How do you like to wear your maxi??

Cheers

Nighty Night

Hello Friends!
Blogging is so much fun! I am loving it, TRULY. It  feels so so good to write what I like, to express my own thoughts.

This is what I wore when I went for a movie followed by a sumptuous dinner with my husband the other night. Having mid-night biryani buffet at Park Plaza, Gurgaon, India was quite an experience.

As the heat is scorching up in India, it has become a necessity to start dressing up in an easy breezy outfit. This light chiffon maxi dress is super comfortable yet chic.

Just realized that I forgot to click the picture of the sandals I was wearing! How can I?? Well, from now onwards, I'll always remember to do so. xoxo

Please drop me a comment if you like my work, it would really make my day! I swear!!

Cheers
Ritika
