Mixing Textures Grunge Style

Was I successfully able to create a 90’s Grunge look? Well I guess so.. hmmm.. more or less!! This is definitely not me, but it is fun playing up sometimes.. Doing what you never thought you would!
On other note, it appears Spring brings a lot more opportunities of celebrations in D.C. We have this one month long carnival going on in our neighborhood. There are rides, food stalls, games, and lots and lots of children as the main visitors. I myself don’t mind enjoying a few rides and eating those Twinkies, corn dogs etc.
On Sunday we decided to go and just have fun! We ate soooo much that evening.. Haha! We rarely do that.. It was a good street side food though..
But then, once we were back home.. we kept cursing ourselves for indulging too much.. Haha.. (the usual story of foodies like us)..

I thought of dressing up in an unusual way considering we were going out to a local fair anyways.. So I pulled my hair back, wore an old mini dress (first wore here, then here) plus the black leather jacket (which is kind-a bad ass in itself) and my comfortable leather boots. Red lips were a last minute touch to break the black and white color code. What do you think about a grunge look? Like it.. don’t like it? Tell me now!

Cheers
Ritika..

Printed Denim Jacket

I am an Indian (born and brought up in India) and in my head March = Spring. Though that might not be the case in other parts of the world, and certainly not where I am living right now, but a girl can only hope!
Anyways.. I bought this jacket like 3 weeks ago and have been waiting for it to get sunnier so that I could wear it. (I know – it’s the story of every fashion blogger's life)! We buy warm clothes in summer and wait for Autumn/Winter to arrive so that we can wear them. And we do the same for Spring/Summer. No, we are not stupid people, we just like to plan ahead.. LOL.. Ha! You get where I am coming from? (here is where all my fellow fashion bloggers nod their head and say 'yes')..

Anyways.. so back to the outfit. It's the same old story - It was sunny and nice on the weekend. We (as in husband and moi) went out.. ate delicious street food.. drank coffees.. walked endlessly.. clicked tons of pictures.. secured all these wonderful moments in our memories.. and came back home dead tried! You get it? That is my weekend routine!

Putting a few extra pictures in today’s post. Why? Just cause I can.. Ha!

Try Bold

Why not try bold this spring? And bold bottoms are even better! Going bare legs is still a challenge (which I don't wanna accept), so why not go the other route and try big bold patterns for bottoms! I am all in.. well are you..??

Also this is one of the coolest hats I own. I have a 'thing' for hats! I love collecting them - different kinds and colors. More on that in some other post..
We had lots of fun clicking these pictures, hope you all enjoy them too!

Cheers

A Flash of Pink

Two things keep me occupied these days – my new team lead role and my love for running! Since I have moved to this city, I feel I have become more fitness conscious and a running enthusiast. May be cause I always see people (no matter what their age, fitness level or body type is) running outdoors. People here really work hard to stay fit and that motivates me the most! I see them running in the morning.. during the day.. in the evening and even late at night!
I feel I have a moral obligation towards my body. No matter what I do, where I am, I am always thinking about how can I incorporate some more physical activity in to my daily routine.. Am I going crazy? Well, may be not.. cause if this is crazy.. I am happy being crazy!

We clicked these pictures on our weekend outing when we went site seeing (my another favorite activity)! Some were clicked inside the National Air and Space Museum.
The weather was good and you know how much I love wearing skirts. This girl grabs a chance whenever she can!

White Valentine

Disclaimer: Picture heavy post

It was quite a relaxing Valentine for us this year. Like every time we went out for a dinner and a long walk after that.. However, this time the outside temperature wasn't much in our favor, but who cares! We still went for a (short) walk by the Waterfront in our city and came back home feeling all refreshed and cool!
This has to be my first Valentine when the background was all white (covered in snow), and the temperature was freezing! Anyways, it was a relaxing weekend after that, since we managed to watch a movie (after soooo long) and shop a little.

Coming to the outfit, I wanted to dress up a little for our special dinner night, hence I played up with an over-sized color-block sweater and my favorite geo printed mini-skirt. Of course you gotta add winter leggings to stay warm in such weather!
The red coat in these pictures is another one of my favorites! It matched perfectly with the black, red and white colors in the outfit.
I also added a chunky watch and black leather boots (which are a must these days).
P.S. I don’t remember when was the last time I wore my open toed sandals..!! Ha! I miss'em. But I am hopeful for spring..

You are welcome to enjoy a few candid shots from the night and thanks to my lovely sister-in-law for taking a couple of pictures!

Cheers!

Plaid - The Power Player

The first thought which comes to my mind when I look at the Plaid print is 'royal'. I don't know why, but I really find this print very polished.. and timeless.. and royal. So I did a little bit of research on it. And guess what, I was right!

Plaid came into limelight back in the 17th century as a signature in Scottish society. It was actually a symbol for rebellion against England due to which it was banned for like four decades! (37 years to be precise) And wearing plaid after the Scottish rebellion in 1746 was forbidden!
Well, only after the ban was lifted, the print started to get more attention and become more popular.
So here we are.. with one of an evergreen print.. which undoubtedly has come a very long way! And looks like it's certainly going to stay for no less then equally long period.

The market gets flooded with plaid print specially during the autumn/winter season. And if you want to know the reason - it's because plaid was initially manufactured as Tartan, which was a woolen cloth variety. And people wore it during the colder months - so the notion still exists!
If you ask me, I love long coats with plaid print. They are so timeless, so classic! And plaid shirts similarly like denim have become a universal item of clothing - and why not, it is so versatile, it can be worn with typically everything in your closet! So just go on, and try it..

Hmphh.. So that's all about plaid I know of!

Cheers!
