Mad Style

If you just go back 24 hours from now, you will see what you see below in the pictures.. a perfect rainy day to be out and about! 24 hours later we are under 8 (or may be more) inches of snow.. tied up inside our homes wearing the same PJs from last night! Breakfast and Lunch happened to be in bed.. God knows about Dinner!
Yesterday was so perfect.. Truth be said, my Sunday went better than Saturday (which seldom happens)! Well, anyways.. I will always look at this post and remember how me and husband spent this day doing stupid things we never thought of!

In regards with outfit, 'White' is my go-to these days! It blends so well with the nature, I feel like getting lost in the world.. Again I am blocking colors here.. White and blue - waist up. Khaki and green - waist down! It was fun dressing that way.. Strangers kept complimenting me yesterday! And who said blue and green don't go well together? Bring'em to me!

Cheers!
Ritika

Jewel Tones for Valentine's

I would never understand the logic behind wearing pink and red on Valentine’s Day.. I mean there are other equally beautiful colors too, which one could create wonderful outfits with, then why only stick with mainly these two colors?
Also, I am not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, however, I don’t mind dressing up (a little more fancy) that evening and going out for a romantic celebration (why leave a chance of any kind of celebration, right?)!

The pictures in today’s post were definitely not taken on a Valentine’s Day (obviously since Valentine’s is tomorrow).. We shot these pictures on a very chilly afternoon while we were out furniture shopping for our house. Since the days are so cold and gray, I like to dress up in jewel toned pieces these days. I have added lots of colors in this outfit along with neutrals. The gray coat and sneakers are helping putting the whole outfit together. The orange, the green, and the navy colors in the outfit are popping out more thanks to the gray (coat, sneakers) and navy (jeans) base.
Wearing stilettos seems like a dream these days (unless my schedule includes being indoors all the time, which is rare), hence I am gravitating more towards sneakers.
If you ask me what is the favorite part of this outfit, I would have to say my green shawl, which was a gift from my mother-in-law. I love how warm, huge and cozy it is..

Are you getting what I am saying here? Try experimenting with jewel tones for your Valentines outfit this year… think amethyst purple, magenta or cobalt blue etc. Your date will not be able to take his eyes off you!

P.S. The tiny white dots you see in the pictures are snow flakes. It started to snow and we had to jump under a roof to get the outfit pictures! Typically, we were just chilling!!  :-)

Cheers!
Ritika..

Prints

Accidentally I took a 2 hour long sleep which was meant to be only a 30 min nap! Now, I'm out of time! Though feeling fresh, I am so behind my schedule..eehh.
Hence, without taking much of your time too, I would like to keep this post short and crisp!
Oh and yes, I have a surprise for you all. Too lazy to tell you today, hence, let's keep it for the next time! J
Enjoy the pictures.

Printed Pants - My version

I never thought I could force myself to wear printed pants. For some reason I felt they won't look good on me, they are not my style. But then until you try how would you know, and I decided to come out of my comfort zone.
So this happened few weeks before when I went shopping with my sister and saw these pants. I immediately liked the color and the print and tried them on. Voila! I loved them. The fabric is made of cotton which is very soft and the pants are super light, best for Delhi summers.

Here is my take -

Few ways to style printed pants -
1. Don't fear to wear print on print. It's actually fun mixing prints.
2. Try pairing stripes with printed bottoms. Stripes act as a balancing element.
3. Wearing heels is one way of dressing up printed pants. But I chose to go the other way round, and dressed them down with these loafers.
4. You can team them up with a nice clutch if dressing up, or a sling bag when dressing down.
5. Accessories - Keep it to minimum. Reason being there is already too much on your body, hence, no need to increase the clutter.

Just go ahead try this funky trend. I'm sure there is one pair of printed pants (or shorts) made for you, somewhere, lying on the racks! Go figure!

Cheers

Dark Passion

Disclaimer: This is a long post. Please keep reading J

Hello everyone! So how was the weekend for you all? Well, I relaxed for a day and then watched the movie “Prometheus” the other day. Need not mention (if you have already seen this movie), it was an exciting movie with ample of teeth clenching moments. You never know when what will happen.

Its Monday today, and I am back in office and writing this particular post in my break hour as I have already completed my day’s work and nothing much is left for today.

From now onwards, I have decided to write more for my blog (not that there is any pressure or necessity), but I think it would be quite fun to pen down my ideas or thoughts on my blog for others to read.

To start with, I can talk about things that I want to do in this life, and sometime very soon. In each of our lives, we have certain list of things which we always wanted to do but couldn’t just because of lack of time or opportunity, or resources or support etc. However, we still have those desires in us somewhere back in our mind – that someday we will do it! So here goes my list –

1.     Get trained in dancing:
Yes, dance – be it any dance form, I love them all. I have always loved dancing and wanted to pursue dancing as one of my major hobbies, but circumstances never allowed me to. Now that I am married and have priorities and other things lined up in life, I sometimes think if I can still go for it. Even during my school days, I was an pretty active in dance competitions and events.
2.     Work more on my body:
I can go to any limits when the question is about a fit and athletic body. I want to seriously work out and get a fit and toned body. I would love to have those curved biceps and triceps, washboard and worked out abs, a sculpted waist and back! Fitness (which is always on my mind, no matter what) is my key area of interest. I sometimes also think of leaving my current job and study sports science and then become a personal trainer. I would love to do that. I still go to the gym but I want to dedicate more of myself into fitness.
3.     Polish my cooking skills:
I love love love cooking. Trying my hand on different cuisines and dishes usually keeps me busy on my weekends. But I am still not happy with the time I spend on cooking being it one of my major interests. My day ends even before I realize! I rarely get time to cook much.
4.     Spend more time in reading:
I want to read. Seriously. And read more. It’s like a never ending urge inside me. And my topics of interest are fiction, fitness and spirituality (in that order). Though I don’t get much time to read, (blame it to my 10 hours job and 2.5 hours of travel daily) I still read on a daily basis.
5.     Be a model:
Last but not the least – I always wanted to be a model. No kidding! Somewhere deep down, even today I have that desire still in me. I love posing for my pictures. Stalking the models in those fashion magazines always kept me engaged in my teen years. I wanted to have a glamorous job ( may be like of a fashion editor), but then destiny had planned something else for me and thus I landed in the IT industry.

The list may go too long – but I think 5 is good for now. I am working on organizing the folders of my life. And soon, I may expect some exciting stuff happening in my life, after which I can think of working on the above list.

-       That’s all for now. Please enjoy the outfit pictures taken (in Kanpur) by my super lovely younger sister on a movie date. (Sisterly-love)

Cheers

Cheetah

Leopard print – One of my favorite prints of all. Somehow, lately it has emerged as a super versatile print which can act as a neutral base with solids and can take in-charge of any outfit on it’s own as well! This was the last day of my super-fantastic trip and we were checking out of our resort. Hence, I chose to wear these jeggings and a loose – airy shirt for a comfortable travel. Again, when it comes to travel, style plus comfort are my basic needs.

It’s already Monday (here in India), so happy ‘back to work’ day to you all..(I know, I know, it’s not a happy day!). And those who are still enjoying their Sunday nights, I envy you!
And yes, I went shopping yesterday, guess what I bought! Printed pants it is! Never thought I could go with this trend, but never say never! I like them now! Can’t wait more to pair them with something chic and show you guys!
Enjoy reading!

Well, I don't particularly like this last picture of mine, but because it's a close-up, thought of sharing this too.

Green Potential

It was a hot sunny afternoon on Sunday last week when I decided to head to a designer boutique to find some wedding purpose outfit for my husband. As the opposites attract, he hates shopping for himself. He is the minimalist. So, usually it is me who goes out, searches, finds and buys stuff for him.
My sweet sis-in-law agreed to accompany me in my search for a perfect outfit for him as we have a close relative's wedding to attend this weekend.

Before I started to blog, I used to be very very conscious of getting pictures clicked in public, to be precise, on Road. But now, my outlook has changed, the fear has gone. I no more feel shy or get nervous while getting clicked. I simply think and feel that I am blogger and I am doing my job, so if someone is staring at me or laughing or thinking how stupid I am, should go and get some life! Eh!

My husband recently gifted me these pair of Ray Ban aviators as I was dying to get one! As our first marriage anniversary is due in about 15 days, I guess it is an advance-mini-gift by him ;). Now, please don't support him by thinking he can simply getaway by gifting only these sunnies on our FIRST (read it loud and in BOLD) Wedding Anniversary!!

Well, jokes apart, it does not really feel our first year is almost over. It feels it was not later than yesterday when we tied the knot. The journey so far has been like a swing with UPs (full of romantic, happy moments, those loving experiences with Him) and DOWNs (full of small fights, lots of learning, adjustments and understanding each other moments).
I am blessed to be with him!!

Marriage is the union of two different surnames, in friendship and in love, in order to continue the posterity of the former sages, and to furnish those who shall preside at the sacrifices to heaven and earth, at those in the ancestral temple, and at those at the altars to the spirits of the land and grain. – Copernicus

P.S. The next outfit post may get delayed as I am travelling tomorrow to my mom’s place and then have to attend a wedding. xoxo

Cheers
Ritika
