Red all about you

Red is officially my favorite color. It has been my favorite since childhood, or as far as I can remember! I still remember I was in green house in school, and I used to feel so jealous and sad at the same time, since I was not selected in the Red house (just so I could wear Red monogrammed t-shirts on Saturday’s)!
P.S. The house selection was just a random thing, nothing fancy about it.

There was also a time (when I was not in to fashion blogging), I used to have more than what you call ‘normal’ count of red clothes in my wardrobe! Be it red shirts, dresses, blouses or skirts – everything used to be more or less red, just cause the color red has a special place in my heart.

For me – Red is the color of passion, the color of love.. Red can be seen so prominently in the nature - the gift of love - a red rose, the first red rays of the rising sun, the red flames of fire, the red color of our blood, the red color of the blushed cheeks of a newborn, the red leaves of autumn – for me, this color is so beautiful, it is beyond words.

I have a confession to make - While shopping, secretly my eyes look for anything and everything in ‘red’. Red is such a stong color that it can attract anyones’ attention! Of course it has to be my favorite color.

This red blouse looks as good in person as it does in these pictures. It is not only airy and light but also made of soft cotton – perfect for Phoenix summers!

Also, if you were thinking I am finally ‘over’ the bohemian phase, then, here – with this post, I proved you wrong, my friend(s). I am still very much in love with bohemian fashion. Summers make you feel that way (trust me)..

Turning Bohemian

There is one thing that I have not tried yet – being a fashion blogger. Not that I don’t want to, it’s just that, I have yet to figure out how can I do it well, so that it suits my personality and my style! What I am talking about here is – the bohemian style. The more I see it, the more I like it. There are so many wonderful bloggers rocking the bohemian style with élan, and I just can’t help myself but feel getting drawn towards it, day by day. But the only glitch that is holding me back is – I am not sure if it would be able to pull it off that well! And other questions like – will it look good on me? Where do I start from?

Well, I have been fighting with this inner voice of mine for a long time now. And finally that day while shopping, when I came across this beautiful tunic (which caught my attention instantly), I knew I have taken the first step to try something I have always wanted to!
As much as I am excited about giving myself a project, I am a little nervous too, since this is new to me! I haven’t given myself a chance to incorporate a bohemian look in any of my styling diaries. But now I want to, and I will! I want to come out of my comfort zone, like we all do, especially now, after blogging for one good year, I want to try new things, new styles, like large sunglasses, flowing skirts, boots and loose jumpers, something which I thought I never would! Oh well, I have a long list for that, will share soon.

I don’t know why but the bohemian vibe, the unkempt look attracts me towards itself a lot! Stacking too many rings or bangles was never my thing (but never say never, right?). Hence, I want to explore that route too! And I keep asking myself – Why not? And that’s what fashion is all about – doing the undone! Isn’t it?

So here I am – with my own version of Bohemian Rhapsody (okay, not literally, but still). And I have a secret to tell – This bohemian thing is growing on me, in all ways – inside and out! Sometimes I have this strong urge of simply leaving everything behind and setting myself free, live life like a long lost wanderer..

Feeling Bohemian

Correct. I am feeling quite bohemian lately. Don't know why or how this thing started, but the truth is, the bohemian bug has bit me. And like a crazy bohemian I keep wandering blogs and stores for bohemian inspiration. It's like a never-ending hunger! And in the past few days, I have collected so much inspiration, that I am overwhelmed myself!
This skirt, people, was sitting in my closet for months, like a year may be and I always thought of wearing it someday, but never reached out to it seriously! Bought it back in India while thrift shopping from a local shop in Janpath (New Delhi).
Well, now that I have given you a little heads-up, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of bohemian drama on this blog in near future. (Now you don't get to say you were not warned)! I am going crazy these days, trust me - since all this boho thing is growing on me very strongly!

Basics - Bohemian fashion is largely inspired by the fashions of the hippie movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. In modern usage, the term "Bohemian" is applied to people who live unconventional, usually artistic, lives. The original "Bohemians" were travelers or refugees from central Europe.

Would like to dress up bohemian? Here's how -

Freedom of motion is a major element of the bohemian style. Rather than tight pieces, bohemian dressers opt for baggy, comfortable clothing made from natural fibers. This may be by way of loose peasant blouses; wide boat-neck shirts; maxi dresses; caftans; or boho skirts, which are also known as hippie or Gypsy skirts.

Pieces are usually flared and available in a variety of colors and patterns, although ethnic patterns are most common. Romantic touches, like flower patterns and lace, are often included too.

Layering is also key in boho fashion. Scarves, vests, jackets, and skirts are often worn on top of each other.

A scarf can be worn not only around the neck, but as a headband, shawl, or belt. Mismatched items are often paired, with colors or patterns that wouldn't traditionally be worn together. The combination of items and colors creates a vagabond, thrown together look that aims to be relaxed but fashionable.
