5 Tips for Great Hair

I often get asked how I manage to have such nice and thick hair. I thank all my friends and family who compliment me wholeheartedly (all the time). Today I am sharing my favorite 5 tips for good hair. I have tried and tested a lot of shampoos, oils, serums, masks etc. and this is what I have come up with – “Our hair need inner strength (just like our body)”. Think of it this way - 'It does not matter how expensive your facial creams are, if your skin does not have a natural glow to itself.'
So today, I am sharing my personal favorite 5 tips for great hair with you all...

Exercise and eat a lot of protein.
Before you think I am crazy, who keeps on talking about fitness, let me explain. Everything starts and ends with nutrition and exercise in my life. If you are not healthy internally, how can you think any amount of hair oil or shampoo will impact the quality and growth of your hair. Hair products are just external. They have no role in making your hair stronger from the roots. For that you need to make sure, your hair gets plenty of moisture and protein from your diet. So drink lots and lots of water, eat healthy home-made food, include lots of vegetables in your diet and don't forget to keep a good check on your protein intake!

Keep them dandruff free
Then comes the cleanliness part. Now, do you suffer from occasional breakouts on your cheeks or forehead? If the answer is yes, you may be suffering from dandruff! Each one of us suffer from dandruff every now and then, since our scalp keeps shedding its skin in the form of dandruff (Did you know that?) So whether you have oily or dry hair, you may have dandruff (and you may not even know about it)! The solution is to wash your hair with a good medicated anti-dandruff shampoo once every 10 days. Also due to dandruff, the roots of your hair may not be able to breathe fresh air, which causes hair fall and breakage. Keep your hair clean (like, all the time). Enough said.

Moisturize them well
Once we have taken care of the health of our hair and roots, we can now switch up one level and think of moisturizing them externally. There are various types of oils available in the market these days. Though my favorite is coconut oil. I have been using it since my childhood days and my mother swears by it! Warm oil massage really helps in stimulating blood-circulation. A good head massage also calms the mind.

Wash it with a good shampoo
Each one of us are blessed with different kind of hair. Some have oily, some have combination, some have thick and frizzy (like me) and some have those gorgeous natural curls! Hence, all of us should look for different requirements from a shampoo. One may not suit all. Try to find a shampoo that suits your hair type and matches your needs. Make sure to use a shampoo with natural ingredients, since harmful chemicals destroy the natural oils of your hair. Don't just go ahead and buy a shampoo simply because it works best for your friend or sister! Read the label, make sure it does not consist any harmful chemicals and it's made for your hair type.

Too much of anything is bad + Trim them too
Don’t wash your hair too frequently. Over shampooing not only washes dirt but also washes the natural oils from your hair. It makes them dry and brittle too (and we don't want that, right?). Unless you have very, very oily hair, washing them everyday is a bad idea. Also, do not oil your hair too much (or too often), it attracts dirt. Similarly, do not use too much of hair conditioner, it weighs them down.
Last but not the least, do not forget the importance of a regular trim! You must get rid of those ugly-looking, hair-spoiling split-ends!

So these are my five hair rules. Follow 'em to believe 'em!
Also, tell me about your hair secrets too, I am always eager to add more to my list!

Cheers!
Ritika

Two Hearts - Two Years

Continued.. Oh well, I have so much to talk (blog?) about, not sure where do I start from? OK, so here we go, I gave you guys a hint last night that yesterday was my second marriage anniversary and boy, we had an amazing day together!
We shopped, walked, watched movie, we ate, sipped coffees, chilled out in a park, dined-out and much more! It was a Monday, so both of us took the day off and just went out, had a fun day together (like always), missed families (back in India) and celebrated – just the two of us!
Here are some pictures from yesterday! Fresh and Nice -

Let's take a pause here (don't just scroll yet) and discuss why I changed clothes! I did, because I loved that dress (actually it was his idea to swap dresses, since he bought me that dress and wanted me to wear it ASAP! Yes, he is impatient like that, however, too lazy to change himself!
And I always do as he say (ok, most of the times... alright sometimes! bahhh..)!!
Then we left the mall and headed to our favorite coffee place and relaxed our feet in the park - -
In case, you haven't noticed yet, I curled my hair (myself!), how does it look?? Likey-Likey?? LOL..

Finally, it was time to go all formal and have a nice romantic dinner with him! Phoenix weather is awesome these days (hope you would have got it by now, since I have not cringed about the weather for such a long time!)
We went home, relaxed for a while and before he knew, I slipped in to my sexy dress and high heels and was all set to leave! He loved my dress so much that he could not stop complementing ALL NIGHT! Thank you love, once again! You know how to make me happy.. [blush.. blush..]

And a big thank you to all my family, friends and e-world friends for your warm wishes! We love you all!! Muahh.. Muahh..

These last two pictures are the courtesy of iPhone, hence the poor quality! Forgive me :)
Well, which look did you like the most? I am not telling you my favorite yet ;)

Cheers

Flow away

Before my own previous self turns vintage, I plan to share this outfit post with you all!
As you know (if you follow any of my page - GFC, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram) that these pictures were taken when I had those long wavy hair, however, for some good/bad reason, these pictures stayed hidden in my archives. Today I thought it's high time that I share these with you all, or else you won't recognize me in the pictures! (Well, all my blogger friends would agree that we always have few such pictures in our archives, which were clicked however, were not lucky enough to turn in to a post! Agree?)

These were clicked back in New Delhi (before moving to Phoenix), when I was too much in to long skirts. Don't believe me? Check this post.
Though I still love them, but don't wear them so often. Plus, this particular lovely peacock-print skirt is not with me here in Phoenix. (**sad face**)
I absolutely fell in love with the color and print of this skirt when I first saw it. And any guess where did I score it from? **No scroll downs, no cheating**!!
Ah! I knew you would not be able to guess that!
It's from our very own 'Janpath'! Yayy!! (Those who don't know, Janpath market is located in New Delhi, and is famous for its handicrafts, garments, jewelry and street food etc., all at unbelievably low prices!)
Question: Can we say this is animal print? Or bird print? We can, right??

P.S. I love playing in these skirts. They make me feel like a princess! No kidding :)
P.P.S. These pictures are more than 6 months old. I was a little plump then! Isn’t it?

Couldn't resist sharing this last picture that I clicked on my visit to San Diego Zoo. Our outfits look so similar!
Cheers to that!

Inspiration: Waiting

I am waiting or let's say getting ready for some amazingly cool weather this weekend. They say the temperature is going to drop to 45 degrees here in Pheonix. Now, that's the lowest temperature I would experience for the first time here. And hence, I was looking for inspiration online and see what I got!
Isn't she amazing? The color of her pants, that style and that charm? I love her hair too. Only if my husband would agree and I would look that good in that cut. Ahhh.. Sigh..

Can't believe it's November already. Life is moving fast. The season of festivals in India has always been so lively and colorful. Wish I was back home this time of the year. I am missing all the fun!
Well, it's alright and GM (the husband) promised to make it up. We have few fun things lined up every weekend this month! Waiting! Waiting!
Will share soon :)
Till then, stay stylish!

Cheers

Basic Wrapping

My life keeps changing every 3 months. And I believe it’s for my own good, as my interest in life remains alive. So much is happening so soon. Can't reveal much right now, as I like to keep secrets a little longer before revealing. :-)

On another note, I've been acting so lazy for the past week, even I'm amazed! Did not workout yesterday thanks to the mood swings, and lazy me. Well, I'm back in gear again, and let's do some fabulous outfit posts with my new haircut as an accessory! Do let me know what you think and trust me, it took a lot of faith on the hair dresser and confidence on myself to get my hair chopped this short. And I have not regretted my decision, even once! Well.... not yet!!

On the outfit post, remember I posted about going to Flagstaff on the weekend? Well it turned to be a one day trip to Sedona instead and wooahh... what a place it is! Such natural scenic beauty, and I must say it’s heaven on earth. And this is what I wore on my trip.

Enjoy the extra dose of pictures from the trip!

Gothic nails, long skirt and shoes - all scream comfort and perfection for me!

Cheers to surprises and my black nails!

From Long to Short

Lately I escape for a coffee all by myself. And because I don't have a car of my own yet, I take a 15 minutes’ walk to Starbucks and enjoy my evening coffee with the company of my own.
I enjoy doing this once in a while. Though I have shared the best coffee dates with my husband, but still I relish the ‘ME’ time I enjoy these days.

Well of course, there are mood swings on bad days (I being a Cancerian) when I don't feel good about anything, but such bad days are few. And I make sure to divert my mind into something creative or something that I enjoy doing, like cooking something new (from scratch) for dinner, or baking a cake, or watching a movie or simply doing a high intense short workout  (at home itself)!

Yes, my workouts give me an intense energy boost and it lifts my mood! There is no better feeling than those out-of-breath moments post workout every day!
Try it out people, I bet you won't be disappointed J

I know, I know how can I forget that I spoke about a surprise in my previous post, and I am super excited to share it with you guys! Check the last two pictures and you will know!!

Here goes the surprise people! Yayy.. It’s a haircut. From Long to Short! I am loving this new look of mine with short hair, it is so easy to handle and I feel so chic myself! And trust me on this - Life is much easier now.
You know what, I have been wanting to cut my hair short for about a year now. Finally made up my mind one Sunday and BOOM! Got my hair chopped to an inverted bob. And here are the results!

Cheers to healthy living!

Standing by

A very big hello to all the lovely people out there enjoying some good weather and making me jealous. Can you imagine the temperature here in Phoenix still scores up to 103 degree Fahrenheit’s almost like daily! Holy God, please bless us with some good weather too... I am so tired of summers now L

Anyways, this was one windy evening when I went for an evening stroll with my partner. The hair, the blouse etc. did not co-operate well with the photo shoot. Hence you will have to bear with me! << as if you have an option >> lol.

Cheers
